Funding communities.
Trafford Housing Trust is a social enterprise that supports Manchester communities in a wide range of areas. Creative Spark enlisted our help to renovate their brand with a series of digital assets for online and social play. Part of this output was a series of short video case studies - Authentic stories depicting the tremendous impact THT funding has made to local community initiatives.
As part of the series we had the immense privilege to spend an afternoon with Beryl; an elderly widow who has lives alone in Trafford. She shared with us the impact that isolation and loneliness has had on her mental wellbeing. Through THT funding The Cyril Flint Befrienders are able to provide companionship and support to vulnerable individuals like Beryl. This film shows how something as small as having a brew and a chat, can mean so much to those in need of a friend.
This film tells the story of how a group of volunteers resurrected an unloved, underutilised and unsafe public park, transforming it back into a vibrant bustling space for the community to come together and socialise. THT supported in cleaning up the space, renovating the pavilion and building a brand new adventure playground for the kids. We joined the group at a community fair to raise funds for more sporting equipment.
With funding from THT, two local charity groups could afford to remain in their shared venue in South Trafford. Ear4U is far more than a charity that sells recycled clothing and furniture. They are a safe space where locals can pop in and have a brew. Providing a listening ear and social outlet for many people who would not have one otherwise. TS Food Bank use the space to collect, organise and distribute free food to the community, without which many locals would go hungry.
